Short answer: You can get a personal loan in Surat with a low CIBIL score, but usually only a small amount, at a higher rate, or against security such as gold. Banks and RBI-registered NBFCs check your credit report in almost every case, so treat any Surat agent or “private finance” offer that promises one as a warning sign. Start by clearing any overdue loan, then compare offers from lenders registered with RBI. 33 NBFCs have a registered office in Surat, and you can check any NBFC in India below.

What your CIBIL score means to lenders in Surat
Lenders in Surat use the same credit bureaus as lenders anywhere else in India, and each sets its own cut-off. As a rough guide:
| CIBIL score | What lenders usually think | Realistic options |
|---|---|---|
| 750 and above | Low risk | Most banks and NBFCs, at their better rates |
| 700 to 749 | Acceptable | Many banks and NBFCs; rates may be a little higher |
| 650 to 699 | Borderline | NBFCs and some banks, often for smaller amounts or with a co-applicant |
| 600 to 649 | Risky | Small-ticket NBFC loans, gold loans, loans with a co-applicant or security |
| Below 600, or a current default | High risk | Secured loans (gold, fixed deposit), or fix the report first |
Your score is only one input. Lenders also look at your income, how much of it already goes to EMIs (FOIR), recent missed payments and how many loans you applied for recently.
If you are a CIBIL defaulter in Surat
A “defaulter” usually means your report shows an overdue loan, a write-off or a settlement. Lenders treat a loan that is overdue today far more seriously than one that went wrong years ago and has since been repaid.
- Clear or regularise the overdue loan first. Pay it in full if you can, or ask the lender for a payment plan. A closed account reads much better than an open default.
- Avoid “settlement” unless there is no other way. A settled account shows as “Settled” on your report for years, and many lenders treat it almost like a default.
- Check your report for errors. You get one free full report a year from each bureau (CIBIL, Experian, Equifax and CRIF High Mark), and bureaus must resolve disputes within 30 days.
- Use security if you need money now. Gold loans depend mainly on the gold you pledge. RBI caps the loan at 85% of the gold’s value for loans up to ₹2.5 lakh, 80% up to ₹5 lakh and 75% above that. If you do not repay, the lender can auction the gold after due notice.
- Add a co-applicant with a good score and steady income, if someone in your family is willing and understands they will be equally responsible.
- Apply to one lender at a time. Every application is a hard enquiry on your report.
“Without CIBIL check” and “private finance” offers in Surat
Searches for loans “without CIBIL check” and “private finance for CIBIL defaulters” in Surat usually lead to three kinds of lender, and they are treated very differently by law:
- Banks and NBFCs registered with RBI. They check your credit report and report your loan to the bureaus. Their digital loans must come with a Key Fact Statement (KFS) showing the APR, and the money must go straight into your bank account.
- Licensed private moneylenders, regulated by the state government.
- Unlicensed lenders, including many “cheque-based” private finance offers and unknown loan apps. These are the ones that cause most harm.
In Gujarat, private moneylenders need a licence under the Gujarat Money-Lenders Act, 2011. The Gujarat High Court has held that the Act cannot control NBFCs registered with RBI, which RBI regulates directly.
If someone offers you a loan “without any CIBIL check” in exchange for blank signed cheques, original documents or a large upfront fee, walk away. Blank cheques can be filled in with any amount, and a bounced cheque can lead to a criminal case under the Negotiable Instruments Act. A genuine lender never needs your OTPs, UPI PIN or a fee paid to a personal account.

How much can you borrow?
With a low score, the amount you are offered depends more on your income and existing EMIs than on the city you live in. Most lenders stop when your EMIs reach about 50% to 60% of your take-home pay. Check where you stand:

Frequently asked questions
Can I get a personal loan in Surat if I am a CIBIL defaulter?
Yes, but your options are limited until the default is resolved. Secured loans such as gold loans are the most realistic. Clearing or regularising the overdue account, and then repaying any new loan on time, does more for your chances than applying to many lenders.
Is there a personal loan in Surat without a CIBIL check?
Not in any meaningful way. Banks and RBI-registered NBFCs check your credit report in almost every case, and report the loan to the bureaus. Some lenders accept a short credit history or a lower score if your income is steady. Anyone who promises “no CIBIL check” in return for blank cheques or an upfront fee is likely to be an unlicensed lender.
Is private finance in Surat safe?
It depends who is lending. Check whether the company is on RBI’s registered list (search above) or holds a state moneylender licence. Avoid lenders who ask for blank signed cheques, original documents or fees paid to a personal account.
How do I check if a finance company in Surat is registered with RBI?
Search its name, CIN or pincode in the tool above. It shows whether the company is on RBI’s current list of registered NBFCs or on the list of NBFCs whose registration RBI has cancelled.
Which lenders give loans with a low CIBIL score?
Lenders do not publish minimum scores. Our list of 105 instant loan apps for low credit score shows the RBI-listed apps, their lenders and the APR each discloses, so you can compare before you apply.
