  3. The bureau checks with the lender that reported the data. If the lender’s data is wrong, the lender must correct it and the bureau updates your report.

Why your Equifax score differs from other bureaus

Each bureau uses its own scoring model, and not every lender reports to every bureau on the same day. Small differences are normal. A large gap usually means one bureau is missing an account or holds an error, so check that report closely.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Equifax report free?

Yes. You are entitled to one free full report a year from Equifax. Frequent refreshes or score tracking may be paid add-ons.

Do lenders check Equifax?

Lenders choose which bureaus to pull, and many check more than one. Every regulated lender must report to all four bureaus, so your loans should appear in each.

How long does a Equifax dispute take?

The bureau must resolve it within 30 days. If the lender has to correct data, it must do so within 21 days. Delays entitle you to ₹100 a day in compensation.

Does checking my report lower my score?

No. Checking your own report is a soft enquiry. Only applications for loans and cards create hard enquiries.
