Short answer: Raise the dispute on the bureau’s official website, choose the wrong item, and attach proof. The bureau must resolve it within 30 days; if the lender must correct its data, it has 21 days. If either misses the deadline, you are entitled to ₹100 a day in compensation, and you can escalate to the RBI Ombudsman.

Common reasons disputes fail
- No proof attached, or proof that does not match the account number.
- Disputing accurate history: bureaus correct errors, not true late payments.
- Raising it at one bureau when the error is at all four.
